Our History & Heritage

Our history and heritage

In August 1907 Arthur William Lymn conducted his first funeral in Nottingham and the undertakers originally trading as A.W. Lymn, now known as A.W. Lymn The Family Funeral Service, was formed.

Since then the business has continued to maintain the founder’s vision of placing emphasis on:

  • Quality of service
  • Value for money
  • Putting profits back into the company for the benefit of our customers

Our family owned and managed business

A.W. Lymn is still wholly owned and managed by the founder’s family.

The business is currently controlled by the fourth and fifth generations – Company Chairman Nigel Lymn Rose, Managing Director Matthew Lymn Rose, Directors Jackie, Penny and Chlöe Lymn Rose and Marketing and PR team member Ben Percival, Arthur Lymn’s great great grandson.

Although now officially retired, the third generation – Nigel and Jackie’s mother, Sheila – although fully retired still likes to hear how the family business is progressing.
